How it all started

I no what you are going to ask how did we get that name well it came from my brother paul who had the nick name paul ur pants down !

So team pants racing was founded but it all started long before then, Oval racing has been part off our family since about 1960. My grandad was a mechanic for 146 Roy Tricker so grandad and mum used to travel the country in a old bus doing the meetings.

My dad (fat controller as he is known in the team) decided to have a go in bangers here is a cutting from a programme from 1972 at Ipswich as u can see him and my uncle Steven Markwell on the booking list.

After that he did mechanic for marty page for a few years till the family come along ooopps sorry.

After we had all grown up fat controller and my uncle decided to build and race a stockrod number 132 this was in the early ninties they done this for a few years with some success, while they were doing this we got to no Carl boardley and this is how i became part of the racing family, i used to go with carl and help out when Carl was in his stockrod number 14.

After helping carl for about 4 years i decided it was my turn to have a go at racing so along came rookie bangers just in time, My first go was in a pink (yes i did say pink dont ask) cav at yarmouth when i was 16, well there is not much to tell really about 2 laps i thought it was going to be easy next thing i remeber the gearbox was laying on the track and the car was wrapped round a post. I then had a illness and could not do anything for about 3 and half years so no racing for me.

I then returned to have a few more goes in rookie bangers mostly at yarmo done this on and off for about 2 years.

We then decided to have a go in lightning rods we done these for 2 and half years having some really good results winning best newcomer and best presented car in 2002 and 2003, the lightning rods was a good place to start as they soon make u learn how to control a car or the pack would come through you, After having a few big crashes none were my fault ( i dont think) and doing most of the big meetings national champ at hednesford and also doing all tracks for spedeworth and also belgium we built a new car for spedeweekend for 2004

Car looked real good until 5 laps into my 2004 spedeweekend then this happened

So after this it was time to sell up i had seen stars to many times in the lightning rod, and thats were we are 2 day in the 2litre early days as yet still trying to get car how we wont it.

I have also done a few bangers and a rebel i hired at ips all great fun and more things u try the more you learn.

I would like to thank my mechanics julian better known as porky and of course the fat controller for all there help and time they put into the car and we will get that rod right !

Right onto mum oh yes after all them years as a fan me my brothers and my dad built mum a rookie rod as a surprise present for her birthday. Mum loved it and is still racing now mum has also raced a banger and not wanting to do it half measures it was a 3litre mk1 granny pic to follow i hope.

As you can see from above what chance did me and my brothers have of not wanting to race or mechanic, talking of brothers yes they are both into racing aswell the middle one Paul used to help me out with my bangers and lightning rods he has also raced a banger a few times putting in some quick lap times but seem to like crashing more.

He now helps out 131 barry wade (wadey racing) in his bangers travelling all over the place looking for that title or crash.

As for the oldest brother Richard he has been going racing for i dont now how many years he has always been that person if you needed help with a car no matter what he was  there to help you out, as of yet he has not raced anything but keeps telling me when the kids grow up i will do something (cant wait big bro in a banger same time as me) i will get him back for taking my pocket money.

As for his kids one is ready to go now but two young but im sure he will keep team pants racing going, here he is loading his car into our lorry ready to go.

Well there is going to now be a new chapter to team pants as we are selling the 2litre hotrods, we have now got a ludlow 206 we got a car that had already been used so we are now stripping the car and putting it all where  we want it.

We are aiming to get on track for may 2007 at hednesford, pictures of the national as we are building it are under the what we are upto page.
